Hello, I’m Dr. Louise Flinker

I graduated from The University of Sydney in 2007 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and have been working as a veterinarian in the South Gippsland region for over 15 years. I started working as a mixed-animal veterinarian, visiting farms along the rolling hills of Gippsland and spending time in the clinic working with companion animals.

After a few years in practice, I realised that my passion was in small animals and, in particular, veterinary behaviour.

I undertook some further study in veterinary behaviour, including the Distance Education course in Behaviour from the Centre for Veterinary Education in 2019, Dr. Susan Friedman’s Living and Learning with Animals (LLA) course and Fear Free Professional Certification in 2020.

This led to me achieving my Memberships from the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Behaviour in 2021.

I have also completed a professional dog trainer certification through the Karen Pryor Academy, which uses positive reinforcement based methods from science-proven research in learning and training.

My four-legged family have
always been rescued animals.

They have all had their own baggage that has provided me with many lessons along our journey.

Hope is my 12-year-old Bull Arab cross that has been with me since she was around 12 months old.

She has such a gentle soul but has had some issues with anxiety over the years. She has played a big role over the years, in my wanting more information to help support her.

Bernadette, is a young cat that I have hand-reared since she was 2 weeks old. She is very boisterous and is always a source of amusement with her antics.
